Webinar: Black Holes Everywhere– Dr. Omar López-Cruz
< 1 minute read Black holes (BHs) have become mainstream, since the detection of gravitational waves produced by the merger of binary BHs to the image of the shadow of the BH in M87. We have searched for the largest BH in the universe, the obvious place is the center of the brightest cluster galaxies (BCG). We propose that the BCG Holmberg 15A in the cluster Abell 85 could host the largest BH in the local universe, with a mass larger than 10^10 solar masses. Why can they attain larger masses? What is their origin?
